Panic stations

No time to attempt to draft a witty/interesting/ or even just an average long post! Nor any time to talk about my progress on the Brit Quilt swap... Like a few fellow bloggers I'm in full scale production mode for a craft fair in 10 days time...but I did just want to pop in and say hello (and please don't leave me!), and show you the stitching progress to date:

Zippy purses and make-up bags

Cushion tops galore (doing the backs is less fun!)

A few solitary chrimble decorations - more needed...!

Some fabric badges - stocking fillers?

And here is a washbag I've made for the fair.  It's made with what is likely to be my most expensive fabric purchase EVER.    This is Lyric by Villanova and it's a lovely soft furnishing weight fabric that was dressing a local design shop window....I've been ogling it for a while, so I bought the 3 metre length from the window.  Even with 25% off it cost me nearly eighty quid and I'm supposed to be on a spending diet!

It was so worth it though, because that washbag makes me happy.

So, the question is, what was your most expensive fabric purchase...and was it worth it?!  I'd love to know...and it might make me feel less guilty about this purchase :)

  1. That would be some gorgeous silk from Liberty which cost about £70 way back in the 80s I guess - it is still lovely but I only wore the long dress I made out of it once! That's pretty expensive!

  2. Love, love, love, love, love....love it all. Just been through your past posts, you have been soooo busy and there is nothing you have made that I don't love. £80 though...like for real? I would take one look and walk away, I am in shock..lol. However, it does look amazing and the colour of the zip complements it perfectly and one day some of all this yumminess will be mine (still need that reason though yet) :( Love Nic xx

  4. Love those zippy purses!

I've not really spent huge amounts on fabric (too stingy!) but I'd LOVE some Cabbages & Roses which sells for around £28 a metre.... !

  5. Gorgeous pouches and cushion tops :-) Lovin the fussy cut milk men! Bit stunned at your fancyass fabric, it looks really gorgeous, but HOW MUCH?!! There's a local designer here that I like, but have never bought from cos she's £45 a meter... So long as you love it and enjoy it I'm sure its worth it :-) Feel better?! lol

  7. Lovely goodies! See I'm a kidder. I have never spent a lot on fabric - well not one item. What I do is drip buy bundles here, a few quarter yards there and before you know I've spent a small fortune. I just kid myself I'd never spend £80 on 3 yards of fabric...

  10. WTG on the fair production line, hope it all goes well. Most expensive fabric? That would be the Liberty cord my mum bought for me (after I nearly fainted at the cost, and she was doing it to bribe me, as it turns out lol). In the sale it was only £32 for 2m half price... I'm lucky on the decor front though, we have a place locally that sells loads of fab stuff for around £10/metre

  14. Love everything you've made...the most expensive fabric I've bought was when I made my bedroom curtains when I moved in. I'd been eyeing the fabric in the local curtain shop and then found it for a third of the price at a big out of town furnishing fabric shop. I think it was about £15 a metre which was a lot for me in my first few months as a home owner but I still love them ten years later so it was definitely worth it!!

  15. You have been busy! Thought youd been awfully quiet for a while. Everything looks amazing, love that cheeky milkman too! I'm
Sure you'll have a very successful day at your craft fair.

And, probably cos I'm Scottish, I pride myself on bargain fabric purchases! And luckily I don't really have expensive taste in fabric. Oh I'm easily pleased :)

  16. Love all the stuff you've made - best of luck with your craft fair. I've been in the same boat recently, madly making things to sell, will be glad when it's finished.
I've managed to get away with buying relatively cheap fabric so far, the exception is Liberty Tana lawn at £21 a metre, I haven't dared cut into it yet though. x
